Hi again! You were so quick to respond to me; I'm sorry for the delay in my response! :)

The main thing I wonder about is how you decided to bring your things with you. How you would make the decisions about what to bring with you and what to leave behind if ever you made such a long-distance move like that again?

Hi, Jen-- thanks for writing! In hindsight, moving was TOUGH, and expensive... but I likely made it more difficult on myself (I moved in six weeks time, with a vacation and two work trips in between) and more expensive than necessary. I'm happy to share my tips/ suggestions. I think I was slacking on the posts on my move, but maybe I need to write one. Anything specific you have questions on?

Hi Allison :)
I stumbled upon your blog when searching for info on moving across the US. In your Allison Who? post I see you write that you would sell everything if ever you moved back to the east coast. :) I'm planning a move from Michigan to Cali in May and so I am curious about that statement! I have a furnished one-bedroom apartment. I've been thinking I may rent a trailer and hook it up to my Jeep to bring my things along with me... But my Jeep is old and I'm planning to get rid of it once I get to Cali and buy something else (or perhaps I'll buy something here in MI before I leave...). Also, I have no idea where I'm going to be living! I'll be in Sacramento, but as for the exact apartment, that will be unknown until after I get there and scope out the area a bit. So my things may sit in storage for a bit after I arrive in Sac.
Do you have a post here on your blog where you talk about your move? Or would you be so kind as to share your thoughts on my situation?
:) Jen

I really like MJ's challenge. I think quantifying this could be pretty easy--as long as you excluded opening doors, saying Gesundheit, etc.

I read an article about outcome research of BBBS today. They make a big difference. If you're staying out there for a while (sigh), do it.
